Pharrell Williams isn't interested in blending in.
The mega producer has worked alongside countless stars throughout his career, with Daft Punk, Robin Thicke and Jay Z just the tip of the iceberg.
He has also joined forces with T.I. before, but feels one of their songs didn't get the treatment Pharrell thought it deserved.
"I wasn't happy about the T.I. situation," Pharrell told US GQ alluding to the 2014 track Paperwork. "They did that record hoping for radio play, and they got nothing out of it... Great, you got your No. 1 hip-hop song. But what does that do for your sales?
"You want to be camouflage? Go ahead. Blend in. But we want to be that twinkle in the sky. We want to be that twinkle in the sky. And you might not be able to see that star now. But it's daytime. Wait till it gets dark."
His latest collaboration is with his The Voice US co-judge Gwen Stefani on track Shine, which features in family flick Paddington.
He goes on to praise another female star's vocal talents, with GQ guessing it's former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson he's complimenting.
"With Kelly, I think we break her out by going to the sync department at Sony. Go put her music on Sons of Anarchy, go put her music on House of Cards. Her songs are so sync-friendly, it's not even funny. This album is flawless. Let's get it," he gushed.
Pharrell has a unique view of the world, and often talks about the philosophies he believes in.
One of these is how everything in the world simply boils down to different numbers.
"It's all math. You have a certain number of bones in your body. You have seven holes in your face. There are nine planets, a sun, trillions and trillions of galaxies. Everything quantifies to numbers," he mused.
